How to use the life path number calculator
Enter a complete Gregorian birth date, choose a reduction method, and calculate. The result names the method, shows the final number, and includes an underlying single-digit root when a master number is retained. Open the calculation working to follow the additions. The alternative method appears alongside the main result so you can compare both using the same date.
Use a real calendar date; impossible dates and dates after today on your device are rejected. The calculation needs no birth time, location, or account. If you are learning the method, use the sample date below instead of entering personal information.
Component reduction and all-digits reduction
The default component method reduces the month, day, and year separately, then adds the reduced parts and reduces that sum. It retains 11, 22, and 33 at each reduction stage. The all-digits method adds every digit of the full birth date first, then reduces the total with the same master-number stops.
The two methods can reach the same single-digit root while showing a different master-number result. Neither output should be compared without its method label. The life path guide explains the steps in more detail, and the method comparison guide covers other sources of differences.
Worked example: February 29, 1980
With component reduction, February gives 2. The day gives 2 + 9 = 11, which is retained. The year gives 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 18, then 1 + 8 = 9. Adding the parts produces 2 + 11 + 9 = 22. The result is 22 with an underlying root of 4, commonly written 22/4.
With all-digits reduction, the same date gives 0 + 2 + 2 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 0 = 31, then 3 + 1 = 4. The difference comes from retaining 11 at the day stage in the component method. It is not caused by a different date or a hidden adjustment.
Understand your number as a reflection prompt
Life path numerology associates numbers with symbolic themes. The arithmetic is reproducible, but those themes are not scientific personality measurements or predictions. Use the result to formulate a question about your habits, choices, or priorities, then compare that question with your actual experience.
A name number starts from letters, while a personal year starts from your birth month, birth day, and a chosen calendar year. They answer different symbolic questions and need not match your life path. Explore the name calculator or personal year calculator with those distinctions in mind.
Questions about life path calculations
Are master numbers always kept?
Here, 11, 22, and 33 are retained during life path reduction. Other calculators may use different rules. Check the method and intermediate steps before comparing final numbers.
Do you save my birth date?
No. Inputs and results stay in browser memory, are not sent to a calculation API, and are not placed in the URL. Changing an input clears the old result. Clear removes the form inputs and output.
Can I keep the working?
The text export includes your inputs and calculation steps. It is created on your device, so keep that file appropriately. Read our privacy details and methods and sources for the full scope.
