For study and reflection. Keep observations separate from interpretations.

Start a tarot reading journal

A tarot journal keeps the reasoning behind a reading, not just the cards you drew. Begin in tarot practice, choose a spread, and write your question and observations. Select Save to keep that reading on this device. It then appears here, where you can open it, edit the notes, and add a follow-up.

The journal uses this browser profile and needs no account. It holds up to 100 readings. Another browser, device, or private browsing session does not automatically share those entries. Export a backup before clearing site data or moving to another device.

What to write in a tarot journal entry

Record the question as you asked it, the cards and their positions, and any reversed orientations. Describe visible details before deciding what they mean. Then write an interpretation, a plausible alternative, and one action or observation you can revisit later.

Authored example: after drawing Strength for a difficult conversation, you note the contrast between steadiness and force. Your next step is to ask one clear question and listen before responding. In a follow-up, record what you actually did and learned. Avoid rewriting the original note to make it appear more accurate after the event; the comparison is part of the learning.

Our journal template guide offers a repeatable structure. If you need help connecting cards, use the worked reading example alongside your entry.

Export and restore your readings

Use a text export when you want a readable copy. Choose JSON for a restorable backup of saved entries. To restore it, open Restore a JSON backup, select the file, review the information, and confirm Import backup. Selecting a file alone does not save anything.

Identical entries are skipped. Conflicting versions stop the import without changing saved data, so you can inspect which version to keep. A text export is intended for reading and cannot be imported as a JSON backup. Journal-wide exports include saved entries; save your current edits first if you want them included.

If a save fails or another tab changes the entry, Export this edit preserves your unsaved notes as a text file. Keep that copy while resolving the problem. Do not assume an error message means the latest edit reached storage.

Print a blank tarot journal template

Select Print blank template to open the browser print dialog. Print the worksheet or choose Save as PDF. The blank template includes room for your question, cards, observations, interpretation, and follow-up, making it useful beside a physical deck or in a paper notebook.

Questions about storage and privacy

Where are my readings stored?

Saved readings stay in local storage in this browser profile. They are not uploaded to a cloud journal. Someone using the same profile may be able to see them. See the privacy page for storage, exports, and analytics details.

Can I recover entries after clearing browser data?

Only if you retained a JSON backup that can be imported. There is no server copy to recover. Keep backups somewhere you control and check them before deleting local entries.

Can I delete individual readings?

Yes. Delete one entry or explicitly erase all local readings using the journal controls. These actions do not remove files you previously downloaded.
